Our Monday Guest Editor Lindsey has an infectious enthusiasm which she passes onto her classes. When we caught up with her for 3030 Essex she said: “We offer a supportive, inclusive community. ‘Bring your sense of fun!’ is more than just a strapline for Shimmy ‘n’ Groove, it’s part of our essence. We strive to help everyone feel good in the skin they’re in. To this end, our qualified instructors devise simple choreographed routines (in water and in community spaces) to music and deliver a variety of group exercise sessions designed for all ages and abilities.
I think 3030 is great way to either get into some summer activity or start your journey. Why not come along to a session with a friend? It breaks the ice, you have a giggle and get a sweat on!”.
Lindsey also offers 1:1 personal exercise and lifestyle programs from her home gym in Chelmsford. This private space offers a background for supporting and mentoring individuals on their wellness journey. Using her pastoral background as a teacher, Lindsey prides herself in building rapport and trust with her clients.
“We work to develop our knowledge through continuous learning, research and networking with health professionals to ensure that we provide safe, effective, (but most importantly) enjoyable activities for all”.
Lindsey was formerly a secondary teacher of dance, PE and business studies. As founder and lead instructor of Shimmy ‘n’ Groove she felt there was a need for pay as you go community classes where participants feel welcome, regardless of age, size, gender or fitness level.
