“My name is Anthony Seaman and I am proud to be part of the 3030 Essex campaign for 2019. I am an Active Essex, Education Practitioner, and Lecturer for Essex & Thames SCITT, PE Specialist for Castlepoint & Rochford Sports Partnership and PE Leader at Grove Wood Primary School, Rayleigh.”
We joined Anthony on a busy Monday morning at Grove Wood Primary School, Rayleigh and where immediately impressed by the trophy cabinet and by the commitment to physical activity in the school. Anthony introduced us to a team of Sports Leaders from Year 6 as they were about to be put through their paces.
“My ethos towards physically activity is simple” says Anthony, “healthy hearts = healthy minds = healthy souls. Physical activity offers so much more than just the physical benefits. We learn and develop social skills, personal skills and cognitive processes through exposure to high quality physical activity, physical education and sport, and for me as an educator, these are the greatest benefits.”
Anthony introduces a great activity called The Animals. He talks the students through animal based movements that include the caterpillar, bunny and bear – all of which are for any age children and can be done at home in the living room or garden as well as in a school setting.
If you enjoyed this, watch the children play a great team game called connect 3 which again can be replicated in the school or home environment.
